Head of Trusts, National Theatre (November 2004 – June 2013)
I was part of the senior management team in the Development Department, setting strategy and accountable to the NT Board. I raised £19.3 million towards the National Theatre Future £80m capital redevelopment and helped develop the case for support for the project with Nick Starr, Executive Director. I also oversaw the £500,000 annual revenue Trust target supporting work across the National Theatre. The role involved stewarding 50 donors ranging from £1,000 - £4 million and managing a volunteer committee focused on trust fundraising Chaired by David Hall, Chief Executive of the Foyle Foundation. I ran the Trusts and Foundations’ Annual Event, assisted at four of the NT’s large-scale Fast Forward galas, regularly worked at press night receptions and other donor events. As part of my role I co-chaired the London-wide Arts and Culture Trust Group – members included the Royal Opera House, Royal Shakespeare Company, Young Vic and Glyndebourne. Director of Development, Youth Music Theatre UK (June 2013- January 2015) I was responsible for the fundraising strategy for Youth Music Theatre UK (now British Youth Music Theatre) raising £1,260,000 in 18 months. I secured £450,000 from Arts Council England gaining National Portfolio Organisation status, I raised £240,000 from Trusts and Foundations and renewed a major Corporate Sponsorship worth £100,000. I stewarded Major Donors, oversaw the Friends Scheme, introduced online giving and online gift aid claims. I organised an Ebay for Charity celebrity auction raising £3,500 including auction items from Sir Alan Ayckbourn and Philip Schofield. I hosted donor receptions in theatres across the UK including: Lyric Theatre, Belfast; Lemon Tree Theatre, Aberdeen; Riverside Studios, London and the Rose Theatre, Kingston. |
